Katharine “Kitty” Stone Ayers ~
A Legacy of Art, Healing, and Compassion

Katharine “Kitty” Stone Ayers’ journey in art and healing began with her grandmother's encouragement to explore painting after being diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis.

Her path as an artist, poet, teacher, counselor, and chiropractor led her to embrace the healing power of creative expression.

After moving to Hawaii in 1980, Katharine continued her healing practice and deepened her connection to the Diamond Approach, a spiritual teaching that introduced her to Prakash Mackay, a Hospice Maui volunteer and counselor. Inspired by their friendship, Katharine became a dedicated supporter of Hospice Maui.

Her generous estate gift has significantly expanded our services to Molokai, Lanai, and Hana and enhanced our palliative care and Kokua Fund programs. Hospice Maui is profoundly grateful for Katharine's lasting impact

Greg and Nancy Saunders ~ Elevating Hospice Care

Thanks to the generous support of Greg and Nancy Saunders, Hospice Maui’s Professional Development Fund was established in 2019.

Their initial gift enabled our clinical team to obtain certification in Hospice & Palliative Care, and their ongoing contributions are helping us achieve 100% credentialing for our staff.

This commitment ensures that our team remains at the forefront of hospice care, allowing us to provide the highest quality care to our patients and their families.

Their generosity has been instrumental in Hospice Maui achieving the number one ranking among hospice organizations in Hawaii, according to Medicare Care Compare.

The Credit Unions of Maui ~ Strengthening Our Mission

The Credit Unions of Maui recently held their 9th Annual Charity Golf Tournament, raising an impressive $38,000 for Hospice Maui.

This generous contribution will significantly enhance our ability to provide comprehensive hospice and palliative care, including medical services, emotional support, and grief counseling.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to Kyle Williamson of Valley Isle Community FCU and Kelly Tobita of Maui Teachers FCU for their leadership in this effort. The outpouring of support from golfers, sponsors, and volunteers ensures that Hospice Maui can continue delivering high-quality, compassionate care to those in need.

The Leis Family ~ A Legacy of Generosity

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Leis family and Dorvin Leis Co. Inc. for their profound contributions to Hospice Maui.

Dorvin and Betty Leis have long demonstrated a deep commitment to our mission, with Dorvin’s legacy continuing to make a meaningful impact through their estate plan.

Although Dorvin passed away in 2015, his spirit of giving remains a guiding force for us. His support ensures that Hospice Maui can continue to provide compassionate care to those in need, honoring a legacy of kindness and generosity that will benefit our community for years to come.

Harry Dobashi ~ A Champion for Compassionate Care

Harry Dobashi has been a steadfast supporter of Hospice Maui since 2015, contributing over $40,000 toward expansion efforts that have allowed us to offer vital 24/7 care to those who need it most.

His dedication to our mission reflects his deep commitment to ensuring that compassionate care is available to everyone in Maui.

We are deeply thankful for Harry's ongoing generosity and his significant role in helping us serve our community with excellence.
